Acclaimed Halifax jazz-folk guitarist Sam Wilson celebrates the release of her latest album Sowing Spring with a full-band show featuring Caito Macdonald on drums, Kyle Tully on bass, and Hayley Ryerson on violin.

Sowing Spring is dedicated to the melting Magaguadavic River in New Brunswick. The material arose from a week-long residency along the banks of the river, named for the Maliseet-Passamaquoddy word meaning “River of Eels”. Blending finger-style guitar with the far-roving possibilities of jazz composition, Sowing Spring incorporates elements of folk, chamber music, and pastoral jazz to evoke wild spaces and the metamorphoses of seasonal landscapes.
